I couldn’t tell you why, but ever since I was a kid, I’ve had a strange fascination with car crashes. Maybe it was the violence of the impact, the way the car would completely change shape - or maybe it came from the fear of being in one myself. 

Whatever it was, it stuck with me. 

With this painting, I wanted to capture the surprising beauty a wrecked car can hold, while also hinting at the fine line between thrill and tragedy.
